Adventure Bike Club

What is A.B.C.?

Adventure Bike Club is a non-competitive program designed to get kids outdoors and provide the opportunity for them to challenge themselves.

Why A.B.C.?

Kids who are given opportunities to take on challenges and do hard things will become more resilient, self reliant, and confident young adults.

What do the kids do?

The first time kids and parents come to Adventure Bike Club will be a short orientation day for kids and parents. That day they will meet their adult leaders and other kids in their group. They will learn about “Base Camp” and what to do each week when they arrive at base camp. Orientation day is followed by 7 ABC days on Wednesday evenings at locations in Geauga County. Our last week we do a Saturday at Bedford Reservation that includes a picnic. Week one of ABC will see your kids learning basic bike skills, and by the end of the summer the kids will be tackling trails the didn’t think they could do at the beginning of Adventure Bike Club!

Who are the leaders?

Our adult leaders are a diverse group of men and women dedicating their time to help your kids find adventure and grow! All our adult leaders go through a background check and leadership training provided by the 906 Adventure Team based in Marquette Michigan. 906 is where Adventure Bike Club was born, and we are proud to offer this program here in Ohio! If you are interested in volunteering please reach out! You do not need to be an expert rider to make an impact with our program.

Who will my kids ride with?

Kids are grouped by age, not by skill level. This gives them the opportunity to have fun with kids their own age. By not grouping kids by skill level they also learn to get through the trail rides as a team, helping each other through the challenge of the day. All of our adult adventure leaders go through a background check and training program.

What do my kids need?

Simple, a bicycle (no training wheels or kick stands) or balance bike in good working order, a helmet, and a water bottle in a backpack or mounted to the bike. If they are using a backpack make sure it fits well and there are no dangling straps while riding. We do not allow training wheels, and kick stands must be removed. If your child is still on training wheels we highly recommend a balance bike to help them learn to ride. We also have a few to lend, just let us know! Why no kick stands? In the event of a tumble kick stands pose a risk for a puncture injury.
